A judge ruled on Monday that Strathmere should not be allowed to secede from Upper Township. The ruling was announced on Monday, much to the delight of township officials who didn’t want to lose Strathmere to another community due to its large ratable base. Nearly 20 percent of the entire tax base of Upper Township sits in Strathmere. A group of Strathmere residents brought the issue up, and wanted to have their community become part of Sea Isle City. Township officials were scheduled to talk about the court ruling during the Monday night township committee meeting.
