Jitney service officially kicked off during the Memorial Day weekend for the first time outside Atlantic City. Sea Isle City began jitney service along the Seven-Mile Island on Friday, and city officials are pleased with the results. Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce President Chris Glancey says the jitney service was started to reduce traffic in the center of the city’s business district, and prevent people from drinking and driving. The jitneys will run on weekends until June 22nd, when they will begin running daily from 3pm ’til 3am.
