An arena in North Jersey, operated by the state will be shutting its doors at the end of the month. The Izod Center is shuttering for a two year period under an agreement announced on Thursday. The arena is 34-years-old and originally opened as the Brendan Byrne Arena, named for the former governor of the state. The arena is operated by the state at a loss over recent years. It previously was the home to the Nets, Devils, and Seton Hall basketball, but all of the teams have left for other arenas in recent years.
