INVESTIGATION CALLED FOLLOWING DEAD BODY FOUND IN EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP

A body was discovered in Egg Harbor Township on Friday morning. At approximately 8:30 a.m., Egg Harbor Township police responded to a call of a dead body that was spotted by golf course workers floating in a body of water at a quarry bordering Twisted Dunes Golf Club on Ocean Heights Avenue. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit also responded to the scene, as well as the County Medical Examiner’s Office, who took custody of the body. The Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy this afternoon, which revealed the cause of death to be asphyxia due to drowning. The manner of death is pending investigation.
