Internet visitation is up and running at the Cape May County Jail. A media event was held on Thursday to show off the new technology. Families can now talk with inmates without leaving their home. The technology being used is the only one that allows visits to take place from anywhere in the world. Sheriff Gary Schaffer told Coastal Broadcasting that the program is both revenue generating and the visits will provide less of a security risk. People who are at home pay $10 for 20 minute blocks of time. There is no additional charged to come to the jail.
