Sunday will not be a perfect beach day at the Jersey Shore. The National Weather Service says that showers and thunderstorms will be common at the Jersey beaches on Sunday, with the potential for heavy rainfall. Some showers moved through the region overnight, and Sunday afternoon, heavy thunderstorms with lightning are expected. Skies will generally clear out during the middle of the week, with sunshine returning to the forecast at that time.
