New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Officials predict there will be no problems on New Jersey beaches resulting from a sewage leak in the Hudson River. Officials say 15 to 20 million gallons of raw sewage leaks from a New York City wastewater treatment plant over the weekend, spilling the sewage into the waterways. Scientists have been conducting water tests and so far there have been no problems on any New Jersey beaches. Samples taken in the Raritan Bay in Sandy Hook also came back clean.
