On Tuesday the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders voted to approve a plan to create a special historic district at the Cape May Airport. The vote was unanimous but needs to be approved by the N.J. State Historic Preservation Office. The district would include the Naval Air Station Wildwood Museum, a second hangar leased to Penn Turbo Aviation, the original terminal building and 12 acres of ground. NASW was used as a training facility for pilots during WWII and housed about 200 planes.
