The high winds that blew through South Jersey caused damage throughout the area early Sunday morning by downed trees and limbs. The Press of Atlantic City reports that a section of one of the oldest trees in Linwood, a 200 year-old beach tree, fell onto a house on Maple Avenue, causing minor damage. The winds also flipped over a small plane at the Cape May County Airport. For four hours on Sunday morning, the eastbound lane of Route 30 was closed near Home Depot in Absecon, due to the threat of a traffic signal coming down. The report says that nearly 46,000 customers lost electric power on Sunday throughout the state.
