The death rate for heroin is much higher than the national average. NJ.com reports that the death rate in 2015 was 2.5 times the average in the United States. Those deaths that included Fentanyl in the drug, which is an extremely more powerful mixture included in some heroin, killed more than double the national average in New Jersey.
