“HERO” CAMPAIGN TO SPONSOR FIRST DAY IN OCEAN CITY

The Ocean City Gazette reports that the HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers is working with the Ocean City First Night committee to sponsor First Day at the Beach on Jan. 1st. The annual event follows the city’s First Night festivities and includes a 5K run on the Ocean City Boardwalk, followed by the First Dip at 2 p.m. into the Atlantic Ocean. The HERO Campaign works with schools, colleges, law enforcement, bars, taverns, professional sports teams, and healthcare agencies to end drunk driving by increasing the use of designated drivers. Participants in the First Dip will be asked to take a pledge to be a designated driver before plunging into the frigid ocean.
