On Sunday more than 2,000 participants and 100 volunteers attended the HERO Campaign’s Annual 5k Walk along the Ocean City Boardwalk, to promote designated drivers. Prior to the walk, Bill and Muriel Elliott spoke to the walkers who assembled at Carey Stadium. The Elliots started the HERO Campaign after their son, John, was killed by a drunk driver. Students from local high schools, Stockton College, and families who lost loved ones to a drunken driver participated in the event. Last year’s event raised $125,000 for the Hero Campaign and organizers hoped to at least match that amount this year.
