Heavy heat caused one bridge to be stuck in the open position for nearly four hours on Tuesday. The Middle Thorofare Bridge was stuck around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday and continued to be that way until around 8 p.m. The heat makes the metal to expand beyond where the bridge can close. The bridge had to cool down before it could be properly closed.
