A Hamilton Township man was booked on possession of a loaded handgun. Police responded Saturday to the report of a man who pulled a knife during a dispute at the Cologne Gardens Apartments. The accused, Darrell Spencer, age 34, of Mays Landing, discarded a backpack before running across Rt. 322 as officers approached. He was taken into custody and the backpack was found to contain a Ruger revolver loaded with hollow point bullets, along with personal property bearing his name. Spencer was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Certain Person Not to Have Weapons, and Possession of Hollow Point Bullets. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $25,000 cash bail.
