Over 500 guns were “bought back” during a program run by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. Residents were paid between $50 and $100 for their weapons, depending on the style. On Saturday and Sunday, authorities collected 511 weapons, including four assault weapons, 257 handguns, 111 rifles and 97 shotguns. The remainder included other weapons such as BB guns. People who turned in the guns received a total of $29,730.
