During an exchange with the Assembly Budget Committee, the Lt. Gov. and Secretary of State Kim Guadagno agreed to include additional savings in her budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Under an agreement set by former Gov. Jon Corzine, layoffs could not take place until next year. Chairperson Lou Greenwald said he would like to see Guadagno include the cuts she plans to make at the start of the calendar year, because there is savings to the budget. Guadagno said her department was “overstaffed.”
