Expect new discussions on the gas tax spike next week. Lawmakers were tentatively set to vote on the new proposal on Monday. Since then, Gov. Chris Christie has said he would veto the bill because it doesn’t provide enough tax fairness. The measure would increase the gas tax 23 cents per gallon but decrease taxes in other areas. Christie previously said he wanted to see a reduction in the sales tax. Democrats could push the bill through anyway and try for a veto override if they think they have enough votes.
