Damage to gas lines on Long Beach Island from Hurricane Sandy was so severe that estimates said it would take up to six months to repair. On Tuesday, New Jersey Natural Gas announced that complete restoration of gas service on LBI is almost completed. The company expects to finish all rebuilds on the 18-mile island by Monday.
