GALLOWAY MAN ARRESTED FOR LCMRHS BOMB THREAT

A 23 year-old man from Galloway Township was arrested on Tuesday for posting a comment on YouTube about placing a bomb at Lower Cape May Regional High School. The Cape May Gazette reports that Richard Merkel was charged with the third degree crime of false public alarm and released on a summons. The investigation by the Cape may County Prosecutor’s Office and Lower Township Police led them to Merkel’s residence on the 700 block of South Second Street in Galloway. Police could not find any bomb-making materials and determined that Merkel chose Lower Cape May Regional High as a random location for the post.
