A former Wildwood Police officer was re-sentenced on Thursday to five years in prison for official misconduct for kicking two suspects in handcuffs while they were lying on the ground. Former Sgt. David Romeo,43, was originally convicted and sentenced in the spring of 2010, but remained a free man while the case was appealed. Romeo apologized to the two men he was accused of kicking during his appearance in Superior Court on Thursday. Romeo will be eligible for parole after he serves one year and five days of his sentence.
