A 35 year-old woman from Beachwood, N.J. admitted to scamming the state out of more than $345,000 in unemployment benefits over a three-year period. Officials said Erica Rivera pleaded guilty to theft by deception, for filing over 24 online benefits applications for her former tax-preparation clients and collecting on their unemployment claims. Prosecutors recommend Rivera serve eight years in prison for her guilty plea.
