A former police officer in Brigantine is headed to prison for five years after he used the power of his position to commit a sexual assault against a 16 year old girl. 46 year old Ralph Pereira was handed the prison term by a judge on Friday. He was arrested in May, 2014 after he sexually assaulted the teenage girl. He must serve at least two years in prison before becoming eligible for parole.
