FORMER ASSEMBLYMAN ACCEPTS FIVE YEAR PRISON TERM

A plea deal has been reached for former assemblyman Joseph Vas. Vas agreed to the deal and has plead guilty for corruption charges. The charges included two counts of official misconduct and single counts of theft and money laundering. Vas has also been found guilty on federal corruption charges. Vas will serve eight years, and be eligible for parole after five.
