It took a shootout, but the Philadelphia Flyers beat the New York Rangers 2-1 on Sunday. The win clinched a playoff spot for the Flyers in a win-or-go-home game. Both teams were playing for a spot in the playoffs on the final regular season game of the year. The Flyers tied the game at 1-1 in the 3rd period on Matt Carle goal. Danny Briere and Claude Giroux both scored in the shootout for the 2-1 shootout win. Philadelphia advances to play New Jersey in the first-round. Game one of that series will begin at 7:30 p.m.
