On Monday Cape May County is expected to receive the latest preliminary working flood maps from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The Advisory Base Flood Elevation maps have been upgraded to the most recent data available and may be less stringent than the initial maps released in December. The FEMA maps will detail high risk velocity zones, which would require homeowners to raise their houses or face higher flood insurance premiums.
