The previously cancelled Delaware River and Bay Authority fireworks for the July 4 weekend are back on, thanks to a mixture of private and township money. Deputy Mayor Kevin Lare took the lead to collect over $20,000 from private donors to keep the fireworks tradition alive in the township. Lare told Coastal Broadcasting that the township is taking the money it would usually spend for free amusement rides and put it towards the show. Lower Township will bring in rides that cost money this year for families that still want to partake. A majority of the donors, according to Lare, sent in over $1,000 checks a piece.
