FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO LIGHTNING STRIKE IN BURLEIGH

At about 4 a.m. Friday morning, firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 6 Cedar Meadow Drive in Burleigh. When they arrived, smoke was reportedly showing out of the chimney and door. Residents of the house had already been safely evacuated, with no reported injuries. The Cape May County Fire Marshall’s Office determined that the chimney of the house had been hit by lightning, and travelled to the basement, igniting the fire. Fire crews from Cape May Court House, Goshen, Stone Harbor and Lower Township were among several companies who responded to the call.
