The future of the B.L. England Generating Station in Upper Township is currently under the scrutiny of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency. Two permits for the facility are under a 45-day review for any comments or concerns regarding the plants renewal for coal and oil boiler operation, and pre-construction for the new natural gas units. Operators of the B.L. England plant say that if it closes, the area could suffer from brownouts or blackouts.
