Authorities have captured one of three inmates who escaped from the Cumberland County Detention Center on Saturday night. A spokesman for the county said that Jermaine Jackson, 20, was captured Monday afternoon in Millville, and Hakeem Walls, 18, was later captured in the Bridgeton area. They are both currently being held in the Cumberland County jail and could face an additional three to five years in prison. The guard who they overpowered to make their escape was taken to Inspira Medical Center in Vineland with non life-threatening injuries. Jackson and Walls were serving sentences for weapons convictions as minors. A third prisoner, a juvenile who joined them in the escape, was captured shortly after the incident.
