Choppy waters, strong winds and 90 degree temperatures gave additional challenges to competitors in the Escape the Cape Triathlon in Lower Township on Sunday. Athletes began the race with a 16-foot plunge into the Delaware Bay from one of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry vessels. The international race consists of a 1-mile swim, a 25-mile bike ride and a 5-mile run. For the second year in a row, Kristen Donohue of Cape May Court House was top local finisher and took second place in the international women’s division.
