The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded the Cape May-Lewes Ferry nearly $1 million in a grant to upgrade the engines on the MV Delaware. The DRBA received $975,000 to bring clean air technology to the ferry, by repowering the vessel’s propulsion engines. The upgrade will decrease carbon monoxide emissions and save nearly 40,000 gallons of fuel each year. The grant was awarded to the DRBA through the U. S. EPA’s Diesel Emission Reduction Act grant program.
