New Jersey’s primary election day is Tuesday, and that means voters will finally settle a family squabble in the republican party. Republican turnout for the primary is expected to be heavier than normal as voters will pick two freeholder candidates that will run in the fall election. A ticket of Ralph Bakley and John McCann is being challenged by a ticket that includes Gerald Thornton and Sue Sheppard. The republican party failed to support Thornton to run for re-election, and that caused a bitter feud between republicans on the candidates, and the process to select the candidates. Many believe that the outcome of the election will also decide the future leadership of the republican party in Cape May County since a big countywide meeting will be held one week after the election. Polls are open Tuesday from 6:00am until 8:00pm. WCZT 98.7..the Coast will provide live election night coverage hosted by Scott Wahl.
