A good Samaritan rescued eight people from a burning boat off the Jersey coast on Sunday according to a report by the U.S. Coast Guard. A distress call was received late Sunday afternoon that a 40-foot recreational boat was on fire several miles off the coast of Middletown Township, Monmouth County. All eight boaters were safely rescued by a civilian boater and then taken ashore for treatment of minor medical issues. Fire crews extinguished the blaze but the boat was destroyed and sank.
