
Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Longport Police Department conducted a DWI checkpoint over the weekend, which resulted in five Driving While Intoxicated arrests, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel announced.
The checkpoint was conducted at the intersection of 28th and Ventnor avenues on Friday into the early morning hours of Saturday. A total of 600 vehicles entered the checkpoint. Several vehicles were directed into a secondary area for observed violations. Two drivers refused to stop and traveled down Longport Boulevard into Egg Harbor Township. They were subsequently stopped and charged with DWI.
In addition to DWI arrests, four people were arrested for various drug offenses. Longport police officers issued 13 summonses for motor vehicle violations, Prosecutor Housel stated.
