The use of cigarettes, alcohol and marijuana among Atlantic County teens has dropped significantly during the past 15 years. The news coming from the results of the 2010-11 PRIDE survey, a national federal-mandated measure of illicit drug use by youth. Annual use of cigarettes by students has dropped from a high of 42.9% in 1995 to 9.6% in 2010. Also, annual use of all illicit drugs (cocaine, uppers, downers, inhalants, hallucinogens) by students has dropped from a high of 26.4% in 1995 to 14.0% in 2010.
