At least one Lower Township Councilman is questioning deficit reports. Glenn Douglass told Coastal Broadcasting he doesn’t understand where the $1 million deficit in Lower Township came from and why the police department is being asked to cut $400,000 from their budget. According to Douglass, he has requested information on the shortfall from the township manager but has yet to receive that information. He was also concerned about why information on the police department cuts are being leaked to the press. The Press of Atlantic City reported that the township told the police department that they would have to cut $400,000 from their budget. Douglass noted that the police department made concessions last year and that should be taken into consideration this year.
