Saturday marked the 18th anniversary of the shooting death of Lower Township Police Officer David C. Douglass. A special ceremony was held at the Town Bank Firehouse on Saturday to honor Douglass, who was also a volunteer firefighter in the community. Douglass was murdered in 1994 while he was responding to a report of a suspicious person near the Bayshore Mall in North Cape May. The suspect in the murder was rounded up two months later.
