A missing swimmer story in Avalon has a terrific ending. Avalon Police learned Wednesday evening that a woman who was reported missing in the Atlantic Ocean exited the ocean safely after she was reported missing. An eyewitness saw a woman enter the surf at the 29th Street beach shortly after 5pm Wednesday and that person lost sight of the swimmer. A massive search was executed immediately for the missing woman with State Police, Coast Guard, and Stone Harbor helping Avalon officials. A Borough-wide alert was issued, and the swimmer received the alert and notified police that she exited the ocean on an empty beach. The swimmer is safe and sound with no injuries.
