On Monday the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter “Dependable” is scheduled to return to it’s home port at the Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, following a 62-day patrol in the Caribbean Sea. The crew was deployed in support of Operation Martillo, an inter-agency, international operation designed to deter criminal organizations from using transnational routes by air, land or sea to transport drugs, weapons, cargo, migrants or cash. During the patrol, the Dependable traveled more than 8,000 nautical miles and assisted in a case involving the seizure of nearly 1,500 pounds of cocaine and seven foreign nationals.
