Democratic leaders in Trenton are now united on how they want to increase the minimum wage in the state. Senate and Assembly leaders have agreed on a bill that would bring the minimum wage from $7.25 to $8.50 per hour and tie yearly increases in the future to inflation. Gov. Chris Christie has been willing to discuss a one-time increase, but didn’t want inflation dictating future increases. Democrats say if the bill is vetoed, they will bring it to the voters as a ballot question.
