A gaming summit was held on Friday in Atlantic City. Democrats from the north and south disagreed on the best course of action for gaming in the state. State Senator Paul Sarlo continued his push for a casino to placed in the Meadowlands, a move he thinks would help the hurting racetrack. Sarlo pointed out that Harrah’s opened a casino in Chester, Pa, and didn’t think that would hurt competition. State Senator Jeff Van Drew was among the lawmakers who agreed that Atlantic City needs to become more of a destination. A marketing effort is being put together by Harrah’s, Trump, Tropicana and Borgata, which will be called Atlantic City Partnership. The casinos hope this will help to rebrand the city and make marketing efforts more successful.
