The Delaware River and Bay Authority officials announced that deck resurfacing maintenance work and miscellaneous steelwork, which are scheduled for both Spans of the Delaware Memorial Bridge (DMB), will involve weekly lane closures through November 2010. DRBA officials intend to have all Bridge lanes open for weekend and holiday traffic.
During the time periods, two of four Delaware Memorial Bridge lanes on the Delaware-bound span will be closed beginning 10:00 p.m. on Sunday evening and will include a limited third lane closure between 11:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. All lanes will re-open by 12 noon on Friday morning and will remain open for weekend traffic.
The Delaware River and Bay Authority has designed the maintenance work to have as few delays as possible. However, during morning and evening rush hours, some delays should be expected. The safety of the traveling public and on-site highway contractors is our highest priority. Commuters and travelers are urged to be careful and stay alert in and around construction zones, obey all posted speed limit signs, and plan to take a few extra minutes during the commute. Motorists should use caution as they pass near all work zones. The schedule is weather permitting.
