The trial of a North Wildwood doctor charged with multiple counts of drug distribution and health care claims insurance fraud, continued on Tuesday. John Costino’s defense attorney argued that four federal, county and local police agencies had targeted the doctor prior to his “treatment” of two undercover police officers. Attorney John Tumelty said that Costino repeatedly advised the “patients” of the addictive nature of Percocet, and suggested alternative drugs to treat their “pain”. The lawyer said the state’s investigation is built on a multitude of lies. The trial is expected to last into next week.
