Police say a fatal accident took place in Egg Harbor Township on Spruce Avenue south of Main Avenue on Thanksgiving. A 2000 Porsche Boxster operated by Anthony Ponzio, 62 years of age of Egg Harbor Township, was traveling South on Spruce Avenue when he failed to negotiate the curve, left the roadway and struck a large tree. The passenger, Nevil Tauro, 20 years of age from Absecon, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Traffic was detoured for approximately 4 hours while the crash was being investigated and cleared. The crash remains under investigation.
