New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has until this weekend to sign the free saltwater fishing registry bill in New Jersey, or anglers will be forced to pay into a national registry. The Press of Atlantic City reports today that the bill was passed back on January 6th, and the deadline for the governor to sign the bill into law is this weekend. Christie has 45 days to sign the bill, and so far he hasn’t done it. If the bill is not signed, local fishermen will have to pay $15 to join a federal registry.
