A small bottlenose dolphin was found washed ashore on North Wildwood’s 4th Ave. beach. According to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, it is likely that the dolphin was bitten by a sand tiger shark, which is “harmless” to humans as there have been no confirmed human fatalities from this animal. Given the limited remains of the dolphin, the North Wildwood Beach Patrol disposed of the carcass without further action. The beach patrol has been directed that all incidents like this in the future should be properly reported to the authorities.
