The Cumberland County Board of Freeholders voted unanimously on Tuesday to approve the new Department of Law and appoint it’s director. Theodore Baker, of Pittsgrove Township and a partner in a Bridgeton law firm, was chosen as the first director of the county’s new legal department. Baker will be paid $125,000 per year through December 15, 2015, for his legal services. Cumberland County officials say the new legal department should save the county about $200,000 in annual legal fees by handling cases in-house.
