On Thursday the Cumberland County Freeholders were poised to approve their new $130.2 million budget, but it still needs approval by the N.J. Department of Community Affairs. The new budget is more than $16 million under last year’s plan, but will increase the county tax rate by 5.92 cents to $1.03 cents per $100 of assessed property. Tax figures for all county municipalities must also be approved by the Cumberland County Board of Taxation.
