A significant tax hike was introduced in Wildwood Crest on Wednesday. Borough Commission put forth a 6.6 cent increase to the local purpose tax rate. Borough Clerk Kevin Yecco told Coastal Broadcasting that the largest increase of almost $800,000 comes from debt service. He also noted the borough employees have begun to pay into their health benefits and wage freezes are possible at the end of this calendar year. The spending plan could be reduced by the commissioners before final adoption next month if additional savings can be found.
