The Borough of Wildwood Crest continues to work on its beachfront in advance of the summer tourism season. Crest officials announced this week that additional sand fencing is being installed on the beach from Jefferson to Cresse Avenues. Public Works and engineers believe that this fence will help protect the grading, and the stability, of the beaches. Crest officials say there is a problematic berm near the high water line; the berm builds so rapidly that it prevents the proper drainage of the back beach towards the ocean. The sand fence is expected to collect sand that would be blown into the ocean water by strong westerly winds. Van Note Harvey Associates is working on the beach issue with Wildwood Crest officials.
